Performance

Sophie is a professional Double Bassist and Bass Guitarist from Manchester. She specialises in jazz and musical theatre, playing regularly with function bands The Villanelles and MonoChromatix at high profile events. This includes a vintage car show at Oulton Park, a private function for the Royal Institute of Science hosted by Prof. Brian Cox and Macclesfield Pride, as well as weddings, birthday parties and corporate events. She also plays with High Peak Ceilidh, Odd Schlocks and deputises for many other function bands. Her CV includes over fifry professional musical theatre pit orchestra credits from all over the UK. She also plays regularly for Paradox Orchestra and Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras and choirs around the Northwest.

Sophie graduated from the University of Manchester in 2014 with a degree in Music, specialising in performance and composition. After this, she went on to study for a Masters in Composition whilst also keeping up an extensive performing and teaching career. Sophie is a confident performer in a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, pop, rock, folk, blues, Klezmer and Balkan music. As well as playing from traditionally notated music, Sophie is also experienced at performing from graphic scores, chord charts, TAB or learning by ear. She is also a confident improvisor.
